[Hidden-tech] Online file storage/sharing alternatives

Thanks, Rich, great stuff.

We do have the images on a dedicated hard drive, we just need to make them more accessible. A photo page on our website makes eminent sense (as does using our Instagram account).

My immediate reaction is why not sure their web site
It looks like you would have formal access to that - (congrats BTW)
looks like it's a wordpress site and there are many galley options do allow displaying to it.

You might look into better ways to get the image/videos there than individual drag to media - there are a number.
One would be a windows/mac SSH based cp/rsync
Than use a wp plugin that pulls from a directory instead of media

You could also use a cloud hosting server like linode where I put various web sites.
Over all you should do some estimates as to space needed over time -- long term should be considered.

I'd be interested in what you find .

As for Shel and saving images to a hard drive - please get a better set up - I prefer Drobo but there are others, esp since it seems to have some business issues now.

Thanks, all who have responded on- and off-list.

I may not have expressed the situation clearly. Basically, I’m looking to store images for Berkshires Jazz, so they can be accessed by media and others. No editing will be done, but downloading will be allowed.

Google Drive may be the answer; I’ll explore.

I use my Google Drive (aka Workspace) for file storage of all kinds. Seems using one's existing cloud is more efficient, less to manage.

On my todo list is exploring more private and secure options, like

1.	https://crypt.ee/

1.	Not to be confused with https://cryptee.io/faq, which seems a worthy way to store all sensitive logins using a Trezor Hardware wallet.

2.	https://www.sekur.com/

Curious people's thoughts on likes of above.

HTers,

Old habits die hard: I’ve been a subscriber to –but not much of a user of—Dropbox for many years. I know there are cheaper alternatives. What are you using/recommending?

The anticipated use is more likely to be photo storage and sharing than documents, not “groupware” in the sense of GoogleDocs.

Thanks for any insights,

Ed Bride
