It's good to hear a positive report about GoDaddy. It has gotten
noticeably better since Parsons left the board in 2018, that's true, but
it was pretty disgusting back then. They are no longer actively trying
to prevent people from transferring out, that's good. Still lots of
nickel and dime-ing now, many add-ons cost a lot compared to other
domain registrars and hosts, and a lot of products are advertised as
being very cheap, you have to read the fine print to see that that's
just for the first year. For example:
https://www.godaddy.com/domains
.com pricing is show as $0.01, then in fine print "was $19.99" is
crossed out and "2-year purchase required. 2nd year billed at ‪$19.99*‬"
below that. Most domains are shown as "starting at", .com is one of only
a few actually tell you the per year price. If you click on the Check
Availability button, it still doesn't tell you the actual yearly price.
I find that slimy and manipulative, and the prices are comparatively
high for anyone with a few domains.

Pricing is good for owners of hundreds of domains. The bulk domain plans
are $95/year for (for example) $11.99/year .com domains so you'd need to
own around 50 domains to get down below $14/year per domain. The premium
membership advertises an $8.85 .com price, but membership is $239/year,
so with 200 domains the price would be around $10/domain. You can get
comparable pricing from other reseller programs without having to pay an
upfront price.
