Thanks, Rob and Rich. After checking that Dropbox (where my photos are automatically backed up) was up-to-date, I cleared both the cache and storage. It means I no longer have ANY photos on the phone except the most recent one I took today, but I can get them from Dropbox or my backed up copy on external drive.
