[Hidden-tech] Alternative to SiteGround?

Yes, that's exactly the issue :( Anything beyond what you can do with 
SSH access, pulling a backup, and restarting you need access to support. 
Which is pretty much true of a dedicated server too, of course (with the 
addition of IPMI / direct access), but we've had very good experience 
with our colos.
