Like Rich, I've been with Google Fi for a while (since 2016). I'm basically happy with it, and have had two phones replaced under warranty (first a Nexus and then a Moto X4), which they honored--plus one replaced after theft, which I had to buy. At the time I got mine, you had to get a special phone (very limited selection). I think now you can use pretty much any phone. Keeping my existing number was no problem. My reason for switching from Consumer Cellular (which had great customer service and an AARP discount) was because CC doesn't support international calling AT ALL. Google works out of the box in over 100 countries--but what they don't tell you ahead is that it's 20 cents per minute. Still, it's great if you need to e.g. confirm a reservation, find out if a restaurant is open, or tell someone you're delayed in meeting them. And of course, for long calls, there are plenty of other options such as WhatsApp, Zoom, FaceTime, etc. If you never call internationally or have another way to do that, Consumer Cellular is a fine choice.
