*Some* smart TVs include a Media Server Client. This can connect to a Media
Server deamon. There are several Media Server deamons available. Some for
Linux, some for MS-Windows, some for both. Do a web search for "Media Server".
The Media Server esentually makes some part of the server machines hard drive
available to the Media Server Client (eg the smart TV, Roku stick, or some
BluRay players).
There is also "screen cast", which is something like Bluetooth, something like
used for things like Bluetooth speakers or headphones, but for video. It is
some sort of wireless protocol and is implemented by some computers and smart
phones and corresponding with some smart TV, Roku stick, or some BluRay
players.
