[Hidden-tech] Modem alternatives to Comcast/Xfinity

For the same reason, I am planning to get this modem + router combination
in my studio space, on recommendation from a friend w/ a corporate IT/ops
background. I have a Motorola modem and Netgear at home for the same
reason. Better/faster hardware than the stock Comcast stuff, plus the gear
is paid for within 1-2 years.

Motorola MB8600 Cable Modem $160:

Ubiquiti Networks airCube AC Router $73:

I don't know as much about extenders / mesh network solutions for the home.
I have 50 mbps down and decent latency (enough to do Zooms for work w/out a
problem) with just the Netgear AC router. My home office is quite far away
from the router—a couple of flights of stairs above, and in an old house
with plenty of interference/walls etc.
