Before jumping in to a conversation about specific platforms, I think it would be helpful to clarify our motivations: - Are there any issues with the current setup? - Are there any features the current setup lacks that we'd like to have? Once we've established our motivations (and hopefully some agreement), we can evaluate how well specific solutions would address them and weigh that against any downsides. Otherwise, it's easy to get bogged down in meandering debate. Here is mine — in the form of a "driver statement"[1], a framing I've found very useful for making motivations easy to discuss — and my attempt at summarizing Rich's original email[2] the same way: - [me] Subscription settings are very course, so I have to choose between processing conversations I don't care about and missing those that I do. Finer-grained settings would allow me to engage at the level I'd prefer. - [Rich] We get few new signups and people unsubscribe with every long conversation, so HT membership is shrinking over time. A stable (or growing) membership would keep the list useful, since more people will be available to help. I'll take my own advice and hold off on airing my (strong) opinions on specific proposals, for the moment. Cheers, Stephen [1] From Sociocracy 3.0 <https://patterns.sociocracy30.org/describe-organizational-drivers.html> [2] I originally was going to summarize the whole thread, but other replies were either focused on negatives (not time for that yet!) or missing parts of a driver (description of the current situation). -- I try to write short, functional emails.
