hard drive specialist not really needed. If it's a typical hard drive only a small bit of technical skills, that with a screwdriver is needed. Just remove the hard drive - probably a 2 1/2 inch drive and get a USB drive adapter kit (about $25) and it will plug into your current system where you can get to everything on the drive. Depending on what you looking for and you share time (you have some now right ?) It just takes some hunting to find everything. If this is too much complexity, more about finding what you want on the drive, than the hw work - most tech shops can handle the work.
