Thanks to everyone who responded to my query about a data storage system.
Here are some comments in response:

Roy: I am open to using FreeNAS and ZFS. But I don't have the hardware
yet. I think I should get the hardware first. I also really don't have
time to make this into a big learning project. Also, I want a physical
storage system, not a cloud based one.

Rich: You wrote: "If you are into DIY -- explore a Rasperry PI based NAS"
I have never even heard of this before. If it is a DIY project it would
probably take a lot of time, and I can't really afford that at this point.

Also, in another email you wrote:

"Also, as was just pointed out to me, that effects Drobo - evidently
Drobo directly shipps units from China and are being effected by the
Coronavirus -- no idea who else or for how long this will be an issue --
personally I'd pick the best unit for my needs and wait a bit."

Unfortunately, I can't really wait. My laptop keyboard is all screwed up
and I am using an onscreen keyboard to type. I need to get this storage
system, get my data off and send out my laptop to MSI for repair.

Rob Laporte: Ok. You recommend Synology (in another email). I will look
at/consider their units.

Thanks,

Vincent
