[Hidden-tech] alternatives to Quick Books?

Curious is you say the online version of QB is not universally loved because
of the subscription fee, or because it does not work as well as standalone
version. I'm assisting a nonprofit that is considering online QB because it
gives multiple people visibility of current information, for fees not much
different than standalone purchase every few years.

Thanks -

If you use Payroll, access your bank/credit card accounts, etc., you will
have to upgrade QuickBooks every three years or so. Just another service
from a once user-centric company. The argument, I suppose, is that external
connections change, so QB has to change. But the reality is that if you can
keep using your old copy, you won't buy a new copy, but will expect regular
updates. And the new web version of QB is a subscription based product which
is not universally loved.

People seem to like FreshBooks a lot. The down side of non-QuickBooks
products is lack of features.
