If you use Payroll, access your bank/credit card accounts, etc., you will have to upgrade QuickBooks every three years or so. Just another service from a once user-centric company. The argument, I suppose, is that external connections change, so QB has to change. But the reality is that if you can keep using your old copy, you won't buy a new copy, but will expect regular updates. And the new web version of QB is a subscription based product which is not universally loved. People seem to like FreshBooks a lot. The down side of non-QuickBooks products is lack of features.
