[Hidden-tech] HDMI adapter needed

I'm guessing the adapter you used was drawing too much power from either the Mini Display Port or the USB port.

If the adapter came with a power adapter, make sure you use it.

Also make sure that you have no other USB devices connected at the same time.

If none of that works, then I would suggest using an Mini DisplayPort > HDMI adapter or cable, that doesn't incorporate audio. And simply use the Analog audio (headphone jack) of the laptop to get the audio.
