Hi Izzy, Look into the HP Envy and see if it fits your specs. I bought a refurbished widescreen one several months ago to use for work. It cost about $775 for 2.4 GHz 7 core processor, 1TB hd, and 16 GB RAM. I have been really, really happy with it. You can get a smaller screen one for around $500, too. I usually build my own desktops so I’m used to getting a lot of performance for a low price. I’m picky when it comes to laptops because I want that custom built performance for the lowest price possible. This has actually been my favorite laptop of all I’ve owned. They run Windows 8 but they’re also touchscreens. I find myself using the keyboard & touchscreen simultaneously. It just makes work flow faster. Change to Macbook Air? Have one Custom built? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good Morning, âThe situation: My 2 year old ASUS zenbook had a dying HD that will cost me (according to repair place) $500 to replace + $300 to reinstall dataâ (which I could do myself as it is backed up on Crashplan). I'm not inclined to fix the ASUS as it has been in the shop a few months ago (maybe that was the beginning of the HD fail and wasn't noticed): I'd like some help looking at my replacement options (this is my only computer). Budget is +/- 1k: Fix Zenbook. Trust that a new HD will work. Find another laptop- need some suggestions. Looking for 13-14 inch screen, reasonably lightwith, need only 4 GB Have one custom made (local if possible) Buy a Macbook air- I need guidance and handholding to make the switch but am open to it. Other options? Any help is greatly appreciated.
