[Hidden-tech] Using bad esn iPhone as iPod

Although I've not done this with an iPhone, I have done it with a Nokia 520
running Windows Phone software. Apple says that it's ok to do:

Remove the SIM card and do factory reset. You should then be able to
install apps and do pretty much everything except use the cellular service.
