[Hidden-tech] Verizon router settings

The middle level of firewall security is the default for those Westells. Someone must have sent yours to a higher level at some point. I'm sure they had the best intentions but that highest mode is almost useless

In my experience Putting Westells on the highest security is always disrupts necessary traffic. I don't know why They even have that mode In the router (as configured) when it makes the Connection so locked down as to be useless.

I would just put the router on the most secure mode that allows for ports 465 and 587. And then enable the software firewall on all of your computers.

When I go into the Verizon firewall settings, if I eliminate the firewall security or minimize it, I can get to those ports, but that is obviously not an acceptable solution. I'm told there is something called "port forwarding" that can help, but Verizon says they can give me the port forwarding settings only if I sign up for their "premium support" at $14.99 for 10 months. My husband says that if we sign up for the premium support, there's no guarantee they have the solution for us, and we would still be obligated to pay the $150.
