Hello H-T: We could use your collective expert wisdom. A group is working on setting up a voluntary computer recycling service - to specifically assist locally dwelling U.S military veterans. There are a group of vets that are shut-ins, rarely getting outside due to several conditions: PTSD, brain injuries, residual fears, cost, and the like. The purposes are twofold: to help relieve their isolation and enhance the chances of getting out by providing an internet connection to life 'outside,' and to connect them with other vets in therapeutic online support groups around Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-traumatic Brain Disorder, Military Sexual Trauma, life with prosthetic limbs, etc. We conceive of 1. soliciting old but functional computer donations, 2. soliciting drive reformatting help (for the protection of both donors and recipients), and 3. soliciting the simplest, limited net access in the Amherst/Northampton area. Sources, problems, cautions, and better ideas are welcome. Thanks, David Su -- "The greater the ignorance the greater the dogmatism...
