Indeed, "cannot be found on the network" means your computer is not able to turn "pop3.comcast.net" into a numeric address (I see 96.114.157.77 for it). That's a problem with dns. If you open a command-line and run "ping pop3.comcast.net", what do you see? If you genuinely can't see it, it could be that your ISP is blocking it or something is wrong with the DNS configuration on your network. One thing you could try is setting up your network connection to explicitly use Google Public DNS - set the DNS servers (in the properties of your network connection) to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. At any rate, it looks like your problem is your computer resolving the name pop3.comcast.net - i.e. your mail client setup is probably fine, but whatever DNS server your computer talks to on your network is telling it that there is no such thing as pop3.comcast.net. -Tim On Mon, Dec 22, 2014 at 7:20 PM, James Triplett <jm-hiddentech at vj8.net> wrote: > > > > On (22/12/14 14:57), 'David Morf' wrote: > > Date: Mon, 22 Dec 2014 14:57:43 -0500 > > From: 'David Morf' <davidtoday at comcast.net> > > To: hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net > > Subject: [Hidden-tech] Likely I'm only guy crazy enuf still to use Msoft > > Outlook... > > X-Antivirus: avast!
