Alan,

Generally virus's generally are very unlikely to cause damage to the
printing.  I think more than likely it is a separate issue.    I would
recommend uninstalling the printer completely and then reinstalling the
printer.

If you are still having issues, I am happy to take a look at the machine
for you. I could set up something on-site to make sure the printer and all
accessories are tested out before deeming the machine fully repaired.  Or
it can be dropped off for a simple virus cleaning if that is all you feel
it needs.
