To generate and e-file 1099s, you have several options:

Via intuit -- $25 for an unlimited number of 1099 form on or before
1/15/2012, $39 after 01/15/2012.

$3.49/form
https://www.wagefiling.com/0A/default.asp

If you search for 1099 on the IRS page of the recommended e-filers, you
will find other options, most of which will be more expensive if you want
to e-file in addition to printing the 1099s.

As for easy-to-use accounting software, consider moving to the cloud.
