Thanks Chuck. We're all on iPhone 4 with one stray Android user, do you foresee any mobile connectivity problems with GAPPs? Moving your email to a hosted solution is a good choice. Even with a good backup system, If you have a hardware failure, you could easily be down for days without access. Transition for users from Exchange to Gmail can be simple for Tech savvy users, a pain for others. You also have to consider which features of Exchange your users use and how they will for with Gapps. One item on Gapps, they control the updates on features. With your own system you have more control. Don't forget to consider if you use mobile devices to connect. -- Chuck Baranowski Chief Technologist Outside Box Technology Solutions 17 Forest Glen Dr. Florence, MA 01062 chuck at osbts.com<mailto:chuck at osbts.com> 413-359-0603 www.osbts.com<http://www.osbts.com/> On Fri, Nov 4, 2011 at 11:56 AM, Karen Ammann <KAmmann at ota.com<mailto:KAmmann at ota.com>> wrote: ** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. ** If you did, we all thank you. Hi Everyone, With staff scattered across the US and Canada and a very snowy winter on its way, a big concern for us is having stable email access. We currently have an exchange server in-house. We don't currently have a generator hooked up to our servers, but we do have a good back-up system. Questions: - We're thinking of moving our business email over to gmail. Pros/cons? - Is that an extreme move? Would more our email be more stable with a large hosting company instead of sitting on a server in our office? Thanks for your input!
