If nobody gives you any better ideas...ask the sender to make a PDF 
or a text file and send that to you.  You can extract text from PDF 
into word, though the file needs massaging and the formatting is 
pretty much a goner.

A much easier way would be to see if anyone sells a plugin for Word 
that can translate old Quark. The first place I'd look would be 
Dataviz.com.
