Hi All

A local doctor's practice is looking for an experienced LAN installer for a project for their practice. If you are interested or know someone who would be great, please email Dr. Mike Rossen <mrossen13 at comcast.net>

Project Information below.

Thanks!
Baer

I would like quotes for:

1. Cable system, with connections for 74 workstations in 35 rooms (a rough blueprint is available).
2. wireless system, with wireless access points.

Workstations will be equipped with gigabit Ethernet interface cards. Workstations comprise a separate issue that could also be addressed, but separately.

Cat 6 cable should be used (unless fiber optic is thought better for some connections, given our workplace layout) .

Ideally, Cable installation and hardware/hardware installation would be provided by a single vendor.

A tour of our workplace would be arranged for any experienced vendor that has significant interest in providing a proposal.

Full cable system should include detailed pricing for:
1. 1 Gb or 2.5 Gb switching unit
2. Price per connection for each of 74 workstation connections, plus connections to application server and connection to external cable Internet provider, including cable, wall jack, additional hardware (e.g., patch board, rack), and labor. If pricing for any or all of these is bulk pricing, and generic price per connection is not possible, then:
3: Additional Price per connection (cable, wall jack, and labor) should an additional connection be decided upon before or at installation time.
4: Price savings per connection (cable, wall jack, and labor) should a connection be eliminated before installation time.
5: Additional Price per connection (cable, wall check and labor) should an additional connection be decided upon during the one year after initial installation.

Wireless system should include detailed pricing for:
1. Wireless N access points, approximately 5.
2. Connections to cable switching unit, including cable, wall jack, and labor.
3: Additional Price per wireless N access point(Including cable, wall jack, and labor). should it be decided upon the before or at installation time.
4: Additional Price per wireless N access point (Including cable, wall jack, and labor). should an additional connection be decided upon during the one year after initial installation.

I'd like to discuss the following topics before receiving quotes:

1. Price difference and relative benefit of 1 Gb versus 2.5 gigabit switching units. If each has relative merits, then quote should include optional alternative cost for each choice.
2. Price difference and relative benefit of hiearcharchical switching units vs. 2 48-port switches. If each has relative merits, then quote should include optional alternative cost for each choice.
3. Total sustained maximum throughput that the proposed hardware would allow, and bottlenecks that exist for cable and wireless data flow. Throughput will need to allow for several simultaneous processes running video and audio.
4. Number of wireless access points needed, given our workplace layout.
5. Additional important variables perceived by the vendor not addressed above.
6. Installation timeline.
7. Any downtime anticipated within offices during installation.
8. Maintenance contract: Responsibilities, response time, and cost.
