[Hidden-tech] Phone service overseas

The Spanish phone company is Telefonica - see http://www.telefonica.com/en/home/jsp/home.jsp
The standard EU/ES phone type is GSM - which the BB touch appears to be.

Depending on how long they are there - they can get a Telefonica sim card and get a local
phone number.

I think you have to be in Spain to do that - most large stores will have that in the
electronics dept, maybe even the airport.
I recall paying about 20-30 EU for that and recharged it maybe once.
(We were there for 3 months.)

Warning: dealing with Telefonica if your Spanish is poor or non-existent can be a pain, we
managed ok
with the help of more fluent friends on a few occasions.

For calls to the US, nothing beats Skype and I even used that some times for in country or
in EU calls.
Check the various plans, getting a call-in or call-out number can be very useful.

buen viaje
Rich
