[Hidden-tech] AT&T Micro-cell available locally

I agree. And the micro-cell is a 3G micro-cell, not just a measly Edge micro-cell.

This is the only way really rural houses will ever get decent cell service. It effectively means AT&T is moving the cost of serving rural areas from them to you, but I think everyone agrees that unless Congress mandates that all the cell carriers must serve every square inch of their service areas with 3G service (which will never happen for a variety of reasons) this is the only way you'll get decent service at your house.

For folks who can't get high-speed internet it is not a solution, but for those on the cusp, it's not a bad deal. A one-time buy for about $150, which amortizes to about $13 a month for the first year, then free thereafter. I'm seriously considering it in Montague.
