Nancy, Try techinsurance.com E&O insurance _is_ very expensive. I do not think it is necessary and do not carry it myself. I do IT Project Management and database work where I often have full access to the software, systems, and proprietary data of my clients, usually under non-disclosure. When I have gotten quotes in the past they have often run in the range of $5000/year, typically based on annual revenue. Larger firms will pay more, smaller perhaps a bit less. If you are working on-site at your client locations, a general liability policy would be a good idea. This covers any harm you may do to computer equipment or property that belongs to them. I pay $350/year for $1M coverage. - Jeremy ----- Original Message ----- From: Nancy Salwen To: hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net Sent: Thursday, March 05, 2009 9:28 AM Subject: [Hidden-tech] errors & ommisions insurance for web designers ** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. ** If you did, we all thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Everyone, I am interested in hearing what other web designers are doing about errors and omissions insurance - do you guys think it's a good idea? I belong to a business group full of non-web designers who insist that I should have it - and I do think it would make me more comfortable but as I've looked around I see awfully high prices - higher that what some medical practitioners are paying! Any thoughts or recommendations in general? Any suggestions about where to shop for liability / errors and omissions ins. for web designer-developers? Are there associations with good group rates? I've looked around but not found any... Thanks so much!
