[Hidden-tech] making the leap to MP3 player

I posted my response earlier, but it only went to Robin.................

I agree with Duane - Apple isn't the only game in town, just like
Microsoft isn't the only game in town. My beef with all things
i-whatever is the weird exclusivity that comes with it. You can only
use an iPod with iTunes (?!?). And iTunes is fond of content use
restrictions of which i am totally opposed. I have used Creative and
Sansa and liked them both and I can use any content I wish including
taking files back off on different computer, like going between my
laptop and my desktop. I've had a few friends have issues with iTunes
and their 'Pods where they ended up having to create new profiles and
erase the content on their iPods - again content control crap. My
feeling is: "I bought the music (and yes, as a musician, I ACTUALLY buy
my music/ downloads!!) I should be able to put it anywhere I please."

My $.02. I will now step off my soapbox...................

Any device that is non-apple and open use will be considerably less $$.
Check out Creative.

Good luck.
