[Hidden-tech] ACT! vs. SalesForce

Hi

the default Sugar logic is 1 company to many contacts. an account can
also be linked (in the default config) to existing entities like
projects, cases, leads, etc... Sugar can create other relationships
between contacts with customization in it's "studio". I haven't
customized or used it this way and cannot report on reliability. I have
easily renamed a few fields to show where one customer recommended
another customer, and who it was, but with no linking. From what I can
see this could be done without too much trouble. re-purposing of fields
this way is about all I've needed to customize in my sugar instance, and
can say that customization has stuck and continued to work well over
many upgrades. My uses of it do not push the envelope at all, it's a
very simple implementation for my needs (contact and campaign management
with syncing to outlook). I do like the combination of SaaS web
accessible from anywhere, but with my installation hosted locally as i
like being responsible for my own backups.
