You might consider a budget new laptop -- even the lowest-end models sold today are better than the high-end models of just a couple of years ago -- the technology is changing that fast. A few weeks back I bought a laptop at the Hadley WalMart - for around $300 (I needed a backup for me and the kids). Aside from the fact that it runs Vista (arrgh!) it's pretty fully featured and basically better in every respect than a mid-to-high end laptop from 3-4 years ago. I don't see them in the online store now, but it's a full-sized laptop (not a mini, stripped-down one). I see other laptops in their online store for $400 similar to the one I've got. ... It was the Aspire 5315: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8221530 The price has gone up since -- maybe for the Christmas season. It's a perfectly fine laptop. Fast. Built-in webcam, wireless -- on an older laptop, you'd have to buy this separately, anyway. Big screen. When we're not using it for school or work, we watch online TV on it or do video chats. -- Maria On Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 11:21 AM, Scott Reed <sreed at avacoda.com> wrote: > ** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. > ** If you did, we all thank you. > > > > Nancy, > If no one here has what you are looking for, I have had good luck buying > older model Thinkpads on eBay.
