The MagicJack is NOT a telephone device, it is a USB device that does VoIP. Somewhere on that network they will have a telephone device to connect to the PSTN, that device needs FCC approval. I wouldn't expect to see the MagicJack FCC approved or need to be. Still, a bunch of smoke & mirrors surround that device. $20/year is too good to be true. -Matt > > Jim Ussailis > jim at nationalwireless.com > > Original Message: > ----------------- > From: Matthew Crocker matthew at crocker.com > Date: Wed, 9 Jan 2008 10:27:00 -0500 > To: Ed at edbride-pr.com, hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net > Subject: Re: [Hidden-tech] magicjack phone thingy > > > ** The author of this post was a Good Dobee. > ** You too can help the group > ** Fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. > ** If you did, we all thank you. > > >> Does SKYPE have FCC approval? > > Don't know, probably not but VoIP doesn't need FCC Approval > >> Does the FCC have jurisdiction over Internet telelphony? > > Yes, the FCC has jurisdiction over all things Internet.
