The MagicJack is NOT a telephone device, it is a USB device that does  
VoIP.  Somewhere on that network they will have a telephone device to  
connect to the PSTN,  that device needs FCC approval.    I wouldn't  
expect to see the MagicJack FCC approved or need to be.

Still,  a bunch of smoke & mirrors surround that device.  $20/year is  
too good to be true.
