I recently got the Samsung Blackjack with Cingular/ATT Wireless. I found better deals through the re-seller Letstalk.com than through the phone service providers directly especially if you're willing to switch carriers. For some reason, they value new subscribers over renewal subscribers. I was perfectly happy to remain with T-Mobile and try the HTC Dash but they would not match price. Cingular reception is better than T-Mobile in the Valley I find but I think the rate plans with T-Mobile are better currently. The Blackjack suits my needs; I don't use the internet service currently but like having the option. The Blackjack uses 3G technology and Cingular is GSM vs. CDMA. There's also the whole push vs. pull thing for e-mail that might be important for some. I like having all my contacts and calendar synced with my pc. The T-Mobile Wi-Fi feature sounds cool. Popular Science profiled a Chinese iPhone clone supposedly better and less expensive that's on the horizon. I found that CNET has decent reviews on smartphones. Good luck. I also wholly recommend Blackberrys. I have Cingular but envy the new T-Mobile offering with Wifi mentioned by Paul. I've heard it works surprisingly seemlessly. You just have to look at the stock prices of Palm and Blackberry and you'll get a sense of where the market is going for non-Windows / non-Apple smartphones. I just bought a Blackberry Curve from T-Mobile and I love it. I know it's not Palm Based, but it offers a lot more than the Treo. With T-Mobile I've got their Wi-Fi calling plan that means all of my calls in the office or at home act like VOIP calls and they are free (don't use any minutes). The blackberry syncs up nicely for everything and with a $9.99 plan I get my email sent to me wherever I am. I don't have the full internet plan ($20.00) because the phone will surf the web anywhere I can get a wi-fi signal, which I'm finding in more and more places. The phone has a good camera and will play MP3's and videos as well. The battery lasts forever and it's pretty robust, I've had it for a month an only had to turn it off and on once. I've been considering getting a Palm based smart phone. I have a venerable Handspring Visor, which, while it hums along happily, is pretty basic. I figure it's time to upgrade and I might as well consolidate devices. That said, I've never lived with a smart phone. I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who live with a Treo. Comments on which model is 'good enough'? I don't need heavy duty online services or elaborate media features. I'd use the camera, video and maybe listen to MP3s. Probably would not use web features because of the service costs. Are there any other smart phones, besides Palm One Treo's, that still use the Palm OS? And... if anyone has a Treo they would like to sell or pass along that would be just ducky as well.
