Alan:
First thing, buy yourself a backup drive. I picked up a 160 GB Maxtor
Basics Personal Storage 3200 drive for around $50 at Staples a couple of
months ago. They retail for around $100 when not on sale and are well
worth the investment.

Once you have that, back up all of your personal files to the backup
drive. Then you can start going through the personal files on your
computer hard drive and delete the ones you no longer need direct access to.

If you have video on there, offload it to the hard drive and back it up
to DVDs. What about photos you might have uploaded from your digital
camera. Over time, this all takes up space.

Then examine your programs and uninstall programs you no longer use.

When you throw things in the Trash, be sure to empty your trash to free
up the hard drive space.

This should resolve some of the problem. If not, I recommend getting a
new larger hard drive.
