David,
There are some good sounding studios in the area. If you want totally "pro" results go there. If you are even a little computer savy and know a little about audio you might be able to make this work at home. What you need is an audio interface like the MBox ($500), or an  M-Audio Mobile Pre ($150) device that has a mic input. Then get a nice mic like the Audio-Technica AT2020 ($99)run it through your computer (these are USB devices) close mic'd in a quiet room and your results will be nice. If you are shopping locally try ATC Audio in West Springfield (ask for Tony) if shopping on the net try sweetwater.com (ask for Jason Koones.) Tell them I sent you.
