Hi Jeff,
Having recently been to Germany, France, Japan and Malaysia .. not to
mention LA ... Power converters is easy, you can go to any hardware store
and buy an "all in one", but what I do is just avoid that cost and extra
packing bulk and just rely on the hotel .. the front desk of any hotel in
Europe will have power converters to loan you for free.

Cell phones .. also easy .. I just leave mine at home and enjoy the quiet.
(grin). I know you can rent local cell phones which may or may not be cost
effective depending .. what you COULD do is get a Vonage "Voice over IP"
type phone set up ... since wireless (and in-room high speed) is very
common all over western Europe, you can sit at your favorite coffee shop in
Paris with your laptop and talk on your wireless headphone-set at the same
time .. for free.

Or you can leave all that junk at home and enjoy the sights! :)
