[Hidden-tech] Problems with Comcast connection

I was having similar symptoms with a very similar setup (linksys
router behind the cable modem), which I eventually figured out was a
bad ethernet cable (after thinking lots of bad thoughts about Comcast
technical support, I'm embarrassed to say).

If your problems go away when you're connected directly to the cable modem...
