Hi Matt, I'm not sure what you mean by "certification", but this is what I have recommended as the core knowledge needed to be a web designer: 1. Good graphic design skills 2. Learn the following tools: - Dreamweaver - Photoshop (comes with Imageready) 3. HTML/CSS Those tools are sufficient for most web design work. You could also learn Flash if you want, but it is not essential for getting started. You don't need to learn all of the programming oriented stuff unless you also want to be a web programmer, which is a completely different set of skills. That's what I do for a living. I team up with a web designer to do all of my projects. It's too much for more to try to learn both; different aptitudes are involved (ie. design versus programming).
