I’ve been happy with www.Ting.com<http://www.Ting.com>. No contract and I’ve had good experience with customer service. You can use Verizon’s cell network or Sprint’s or T-Mobile’s. If you don’t use data your bill will generally be under $20/month. If you need data in a pinch I think they charge $5/GB. Also can offer a referral (bill credit) upon request :-) ________________________________ From: Hidden-discuss <hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net> on behalf of Rich at tnr via Hidden-discuss <hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net> Sent: Thursday, December 30, 2021 6:25:04 PM To: hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net <hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net> Subject: Re: [Hidden-tech] Looking for advice about carriers for mobile phone I've had good luck with Google Fi -- it is unlimited talk and text for a flat rate that does not include cell data - which you really don't need - since most data usage is where there is wifi. I've looked into 55+ plans and they really don't work unless your income is very low. You make a comment about wifi and I figure you mean the phone as a hot spot rather than the phone on wifi. I eliminated my land line several months ago. I won’t bore you with the details of dysfunction I have experienced trying to straighten out the invoicing for the existing mobile and the non-existent land line. No doubt I am not the only person who has had this experience and it continues after 3 different people at Verizon had assured me all was well. This morning I was woken up by a call from (supposedly) Verizon saying my account had been discontinued for “verification.” I spent more than half an hour on hold waiting to get a real person to talk to me without any luck and decided I was done with Verizon. I would be very grateful for advice (pro and con) about other carriers who have good coverage, good customer service, and reasonable rates. What I am looking for is an unlimited talk and text plan for one iPhoneSE and an Apple Watch. I want to keep the phone number I have now and I don’t need a second line. I am a senior citizen and I see that Consumer Cellular and T-Mobile have “55+” plans but it doesn’t look as though they are unlimited talk and text. Some of the carriers offer a new phone as a perk on a new account. Is that a good deal or does it not work out to be as beneficial as they say it will be? I don’t need wifi (I am sharing an account with my tenant and it works very well). And, because we don’t always know what questions to ask until it’s too late, what else should I be thinking about? Thanks so much everyone! Happy New Year!
