Hi Folks.
*TL;DR: * Short term JS / JQuery coder with recent Chrome Extension
experience needed to update project. $2K. RSVP by 12/9?
*Background: *10 teams across the country were picked to finish new or
upgraded educational projects that teach students Digital Literacy, a
national priority. My team project, Fake News Fitness
<https://fakenewsfitness.org>, teaches students a bit about the
informational ecosystem on the web to help recognize misinformation
before spreading it, and even argue people off believing it.
Trump's election was the impetus, and the way social media and
misinformation have joined forces since to affect public health (mask
and vaccine refusal), democracy ("Stop the Steal" claims) and the planet
(PR by fossil fuel companies) makes this an every more urgent priority
for our public schools to address. I hope the mission is of interest to
everyone on Hidden-Tech.
*Task: *The core tech is a Chrome extension that pops up a form to
authenticate a user, pulls data from whatever web page is active,
populates a the form with it, takes user entered data, and sends the
data via JSON/REST, creating a document. We used to use Drupal, but now
just want a Google Doc created.
The extension stopped working a few years ago (changes to Chrome API /
Manifest, plus a WHOIS archive change) after our coder moved to CA. Our
new coder's new baby is in the way of us making any progress on some
small but critical updates.
I need someone signed up by December 9th. We have a $2,000 budget, which
isn't much but there's not much to do here, by my lights. Here's how it
worked 3 years ago:

We're making it simpler now.
1. *Phase 1:* No authentication. On submit, display the extracted +
submitted data for copy-paste into a Google Doc.
2. *Phase 2:* Authenticate as a Google user, and populate a Google Doc
with the extracted + submitted form data.

Please reply if you can help with this? I can do enough HTML/CSS/JS to
add fields, make the form cleaner, optimize the code -- I just don't
know enough about the Chrome API to get it working again.
Thanks,
Bram
