Deborah, If you want to try and handle this yourself Malwarebytes for Mac is one of the best free antimalware tools on the market. https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/ I would also absolutely recommend running some variety of antivirus on the mac in general (free is fine, AVG and Sophos both make good solid AV for mac that is free).
