Deborah,

I believe you can click the vertical "burger" (see screenshot) and click 
Save. You may also want to take a screen shot of your messages screen, 
and then save both to your computer in a special folder.

If you can't do it from the phone itself, you could take a video (using 
another phone or camera) of the message playing on speaker, making sure 
to get the phone's screen to see date and number.
