Hello, Hidden-Techies. If you're a data scientist or software engineer and
interested in working for Microsoft, you may be interested in attending a
new NERD Speaker Series and Open House on January 30th from 5:30pm-7pm. (In
this case, NERD=New England Research & Development, as in the NERD Center
in Cambridge, MA.)

Evening agenda:

5:00 pm: Doors Open

5:30-6:20 pm: Networking (*Apps & Drinks*) and Team Demos

6:20-6:25 pm: Welcome and overview of NERD

6:25-6:50 pm: Technical Talk by Miguel de Icaza

After a fulfilling career at UMass, I started working for Microsoft 2.5
years ago, initially on its Advanced Analytics team and now on the AI
Platform team in Engineering. I mostly telecommute from Western MA but
occasionally go into Cambridge (and to Redmond).  It was a huge culture
shock but it's been tremendous. Microsoft has come a long way in their view
of the world and I highly recommend them as an employer. The NERD, on the
Charles River adjacent to the MIT campus, is quite spectacular, as well.
