I don't know what you do, but a recent set of experiences may help.

I've directed literally hundreds of VO sessions, but only after final
script approval and a rough edit with a "scratch track" that I generally
record. Well, much to my surprise, two recent clients chose my voice for
the final versions! That's an interesting back door into the work. (Sorry,
Jill!) And, yes, my Neumann U-87 mic is world-class.
