Wendy,

Being fervently against deskjet printers, I purchased a Brother MFC -
L2700DW a few years ago, a b/w laserjet printer that scans, faxes, etc.
Wireless enabled, I frequently print from my phone over wifi. It allows
you to scan to a connected computer, or over wifi. Simple to maintain,
prints 30 pages per minute, and toner is far cheaper than deskjet ink
cartridges, by far. Depending on how much you print, a single toner
cartridge could last years, and the ink will not run if water drops on
the paper. Also prints duplex (both sides).

Staples has them for $150, with a starter toner cart included.

My 2c.
