[Hidden-tech] How to remain connected when traveling to Europe

Hi Jeremy,

You should be able to buy a local SIM card for your phone. That's probably
the least expensive way to go. If you don't know off hand, you'll want to
check with your carrier to find out if your phone is unlocked. If you're
past your contract from buying the phone at a discount or paid full price I
think they're required to unlock it. If not I think you can still get it
unlocked for international use, you'll just remain locked in for US use.

I've found this website helpful while researching an upcoming trip:
https://toomanyadapters.com/buying-local-sim-cards/. They discuss where,
how and what company to buy from for many different countries. If the
country you're looking for doesn't show up, just google "country name sim
card."

Europe recently passed a law requiring all European cell carriers to allow
text and voice roaming throughout Europe for the same prices as "at home"
so any SIM card you buy there should work in all other European countries.
They aren't necessarily required to extend this to data, but from what I've
seen in my research they mostly seem to have done so.

Happy travels!
