Replace the HD in that old Mac. I just gave up a 2013 MacBook Pro and got a 2018 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Long story short, the touch bar is a bit of a gimmick, I end up having to tap and swipe 3-5 times for things that were normally not so hard to get. It was more expensive, and I had to buy a bunch of dongles to use my regular devices that are USB. MacOS is buggier than it's ever been, and the myth that Mac's don't get viruses has long been disproven. I really wish I had pulled the trigger on a Surface Book. If I'm going to have a less than stellar OS, I'd at least have some ports and would have spent about $500 less, and the Surface Book is a pretty damn nice looking laptop. Yeah, I'm a little salty on Apple these days :) On Wed, Feb 21, 2018 at 8:34 PM Ira Bryck <ira at fambizpv.com> wrote: > We just replaced a dying hard drive in a 2012 MacBook Pro w ssid drive, > and hope to get more life out of it. > > TJ at left click amherst can tell you if this is worth doing, in your case. > > > *Ira Bryck* > > *fambizpv.com <http://fambizpv.com/>* > > *irabryck.com <http://irabryck.com/>* > > *413 835 0810 <413%20835%200810>* > > > > *“the only source of knowledge is experience” –Albert Einstein * > > > > On Feb 21, 2018, at 7:02 PM, Shel Horowitz <shel at principledprofit.com> > wrote: > > I'm trying to figure out which of these two models I should buy to replace > my dying 2012 McBookPro: > > https://www.apple.com/mac/compare/results/?product1=macbook&product2=macbook-air-13 > > I have a fairly recent 1TB SSD (SATA) drive in my current Mac, which I > plan to convert to an external, and thus will probably go with the smaller > drive capacity for the built-in.
