Shel, I would go with the air or the pro not the MacBook. More USB ports would definitely be useful, and USB 3 can easily be adapted to C if needed. I would also definitely start with 16gb of RAM. I expect you will keep this machine a while and will be much happier with the 16gb. If you want we are always happy to help regular customers (or anyone) order new /refurbished machines. I'm happy to discuss with you and source the machine of your choice, possibly at a little bit of a discount off the apple price if we can.
