[Hidden-tech] domain purchase at expiration

There is a person who has registered a domain name that poses/falsely 
advertises something about a real organization. It looks genuine, 
expecially since the organization does not have their own, stand-alone 
webist, but is included on pages in website of a major sponsoring 
organization.

The false website's domain name has an expiration date, of course. What 
is the process whereby one could reclaim/buy an expired domain, if the 
individual forgets to renew? Is there a grace period whereby, if the 
domain is not renewed, it is not available for resale for a certain 
period of time?

I doubt this person will fail to renew, but it'd be good just to check, 
in the event they don't.
