I'm guessing it's the motor. Probably the oil is very old, or something along those lines. Doesn't seem worth fixing, if you can get another one for under $40(look to the "similar items" section below the item you linked to), which is less than what you'd have to pay to have it repaired. You can pay to have the records digitized, but there is definitely something magical about putting a needle down on a spinning disc and getting music.
