[Hidden-tech] TAXES

Hello Annamarie and all those asking about taxes.

So that you understand where I am coming from, I have a degree in
accounting and went through extensive tax preparation training with H&R
Block. I used to manage the H&R Block office in Brattleboro. I left a
few years ago. I have no loyalty toward the office, as I did not get
along with the owner of the franchise. However, there are some very
capable tax preparers there. Kerri Brown, in particular, is very, very
good and has done a lot of returns for small business owners. H&R Block
has the most extensive training program of any of the tax preparation
companies. I found my preparers were more up to date than the
accountants in the area. The one negative in going to Block is the cost
compared with doing it yourself.

After seeing the results of Turbo Tax while managing the Block office I
can tell you that we saved clients a lot of money over what Turbo Tax
told them they owed. I have no respect for that program. Some people
came into our office before they hit the "send" button because Turbo Tax
told them they owed taxes and they questioned that. They left our
office anticipating a significant refund. This happened many times!

I have had my own small business for most of my adult life. I have been
using H&R Block at Home and its predecessors for about 40 years. If you
walk through the whole interview process you should end up with an
accurate return.
