If they still spin up and you can connect them to a working pc, why not just use data destruction software and throw them in the scrap pile? I've seen offerings from Iron Mountain and I think Cintas to shred them but they were more focused on enterprise businesses. If you're completely sold on shedding, maybe you could find a local metal scrapper and they'd allow you to witness their destruction for free or a small fee?
